Gary Chandler co-founded Earth News in 1991 as an international news service. Its efforts led to a syndicated environmental news column. The news service covered positive environmental stories from around the globe. It was published thousands of times in newspapers around the world–from the Jakarta Post to the Washington Post.

Earth News also published numerous books and other information covering a multitude of environmental success stories from around the globe. It has compiled best practices from environmental experts around the world.
